Chhabimura

Chabimura or Chobimura also known as Chakwrakma or Chakrakma is famous for its panels of rock carving on steep mountain wall on the bank of river Gomti in Indian state Tripura. There are huge carved images of Shiva, Vishnu, Kartika, Mahisasura Mardini Durga and other Gods and Goddesses.
It is situated on the bank of Gomati river at Haakwchak or Haakchak Amarpur subdivision under Gomati district, 82 km away from main city and capital Agartala, Tripura, India, 30 km away from Udaipur and 7.5 km away from Amarpur.

The first panel is just on the other side of the bank. It measures 10.3 m in (height) and is spread over an area 28 m (length) and is south facing. The area to the right of the panel extends up to 60 m where some other images existed. At present some of the images are lost by sliding of rock panels.

The 2nd image is that of Mahishasurmardini is about one km away from the 1st panels and it is curved at a height of 10 meter from the river bed. The local tribe worshipped it as CHAKRAK-MA. This is one of the largest reliefs of Goddess present in the country which itself makes it unique. The image has a height of 10.70 meter and a width of 7.70 meter. The face is depicted round with dishevelled hair-in a number of hair locks. She is ten armed and is holding weapon in all the nine arms except the lower which hold the hair of demon king. The weapons are mostly indistinct due to erosion and floral growth.
